Terms & Conditions for Monkey Shoulder Brushstroke Battle Campaign

By participating in the Monkey Shoulder Brushstroke Battle, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

• Eligibility
  ‍○ This campaign is open to mural artists who are based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
  ○ Participants must be available in Johannesburg during the unveiling event at Kunye in November 2024.
  ○ Participants must be 18 years or older.
• Submission Period
  ‍○ Portfolio submissions are open from 20 August 2024 - 30 September 2024.
  ○ Candidates must submit their portfolios or showcases of previous mural work within this period.
• Selection Process
  ‍○ Top three artists will be shortlisted based on the quality of their portfolio submissions by 1 - 4 October 2024.
  ○ Each shortlisted artist will receive R5,000 upon completion of a detailed brief provided after selection.
  ○ Shortlisted artists will be required to execute the brief between 7 - 11 October 2024.
  ○ The final winning artwork will be selected by 14 October 2024.
• Prizes
  ○ Each of the three shortlisted artists will receive a cash prize of R5,000.
  ○ The final winner will receive a cash prize of R20,000, paid in two instalments:
  half upon selection (14 October 2024) and the remaining half after the Kunye event.
  ○ The final winner will also receive a year-long supply of Monkey Shoulder, amounting to twelve bottles.
• Responsibilities
  ○ Participants are responsible for their safe travel to and from the Kunye event in November 2024.
  ○ Participants must behave responsibly and safely, as this campaign involves an alcohol brand.
  ○ Participants must be available for media interviews and understand that this collaboration will garner press coverage.
• Usage Rights
  ○ By participating, artists grant Monkey Shoulder unlimited usage rights of the submitted artwork and their likeness for video and still images for the campaign.
  ○ This usage is intended to benefit the artists by aligning them with a global brand and potentially providing further work opportunities.
• Campaign Milestones
  ○Portfolio Submissions: 20 August 2024 - 30 September 2024
  ○Shortlisting Top Three Artists: 1 - 4 October 2024
  ○ Execution of Final Brief: 7 - 11 October 2024
  ○ Selection of Winning Artwork: 14 October 2024
  ○Kunye Artwork Preparation: 15 October 2024 - 31 October 2024
  ○ Artwork Unveiling at Kunye Event: 2 November 2024, Huddle Park
• Artwork Preparation
  ○ The client has reserved a budget of R25,000 for all art supplies and installation costs associated with the mural.
  ○ The selected artist will be given time from 15 October 2024 - 31 October 2024 to complete the mural.
